Welcome to Permaculture Yarra Valley !

Helping grow sustainable homes and neighbourhoods in the valley since 1992

Permaculture
is a design system that is applied to develop sustainable communities by creating access to food, water, energy, shelter, medicinal plants and social connections in a nature-inspired way.

We are a registered not-for-profit association with a bio-regional focus on the Yarra Valley.
We are entirely organised and led by volunteers and always welcome new members interested in creating thriving homes and communities.

Would you like to join us?
We offer anyone…

  • Workshops & Talks

On topics ranging from building natural pools to making halloumi (to snack on, pool-side!)

  • Site Visits

What better way to learn than to visit someone who’s already done it?

  • Education & Training

We offer a range of introductory and in-depth courses on a variety of topics.

We are a proud member of Permaculture Australia, the national permaculture member-based association.

Acknowledgement of country

Permaculture is rooted in the observation and mimicry of natural ecosystems and aims at reconnecting people with the land, to care for the Earth, humanity and all species. We believe this brings traditional and modern cultures together and we acknowledge that many permaculture practices hold their roots in indigenous knowledge and wisdom worldwide.

Permaculture Yarra Valley wishes to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as Traditional Custodians of the land on which we hold events, and their connection to land, water and community.
We pay our respects to Aboriginal Elders past, present and future of this and other communities.
